Novell 4.11 Server Installation
NETWARE SERVER INSTALLATION
The following steps will only be taken in the case of a complete server crash -UKBK2
1) Boot the server with the Smartstart CD in the tray.
2) Select the system eraser option. This will result in the complete configuration of the hardware to be erased. Two warnings will be displayed.
3) The system will reboot, keep the CD in place.
4) Select the language, date and time zone.
5) When prompted for the type of installation, select CUSTOM installation.
6) In the following screen you must open the Novell folder and select IntraNetware.
7) Continue with install. The server will reboot, keep the CD in place.
8) You will now be asked to set the ARRAY up.
8.1) You will be installing RAID 1.
8.2) Make sure that when you click on the PHYSICAL PARTITION, you will have two drives.
8.3) LOGICAL PARTITION will display one single drive.
9) The system will reboot and run through several processes. Leave the CD in place.
10) Once it has rebooted, you will be asked to Register.- Select NO.
11) Reboot with the DOS disk provided.
The following will create a DOS partition.
1) Type a:\fdisk
2) Create a Dos partition of 150 Megabyte. Do NOT delete the 35-Megabyte partition created by Compaq.
3) Set the Dos partition as active and exit.
4) Keep the Dos disk in place while the PC is rebooting.
5) Once at the command prompt, type: Format c: /x/s
6) Copy Files over the A: drive onto the C: drive.
7) Reboot the server.
8) At the command prompt, select the D: drive and type INSTALL. The Netware4.11 CD must be in the CD drive.
9) Choose Custom install when prompted for install type.
10) The server name will be UKBK2
11) The INTERNAL NETWORK NUMBER will be 3D82800 for both servers.
12) Netware will now automaticly be loaded.
The server will detect additional hardware. Take the following steps:
13) Press F3 to select additional drivers.
14) There are several drivers: CPQS710.DSK
AIC7870.DSK
IDEATA.HAM
IDECD.CDM
CPQDADISK.DSK
Hardware will be detected again for the MADGE network interface cards.
15) Select the following driver: MADGE HARDWARE.
16) Next you will be prompted to create the Netware partition. Select manual setup.
NOTE: If the system does not allow you to create a partition, one of the hardware drivers might not be loaded correctly.
17) Block suballocation =ON
File compression = OFF
Data Migration = OFF
THE VOLUME WILL AUTOMATICLY BE MOUNTED.
18) The Administrator that has Create rights to the NDS will need to log in so that the server object can be created.
